We here at Take Back the Sky are all manner of excited to announce that we will be a part of Can’t Stop the Serenity Pittsburgh again this year.
CSTS Pittsburgh has graciously allowed Take Back the Sky to have a table in the lobby of the Hollywood Theater during their event, at which those in attendance will be able to sign our petition to SpaceX and Elon Musk asking them to name their first manned Dragon V2 spacecraft Serenity.
The PA Browncoats and Geek Pittsburgh will present Pittsburgh’s 9th annual Can’t Stop the Serenity charity screening on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the historic Hollywood Theater on Potomac Avenue in Dormont, PA. The doors will open at 5PM for an evening featuring games, raffles and a showing of the science-fiction film Serenity on the big screen at 7PM. This year there will also be a special “Browncoat music and trivia mixer” at Fredo’s Market Deli (just down the street from the Hollywood) from 3-5PM, where people can purchase delicious food, mingle, play Firefly and Serenity team trivia to win prizes and hear a great acoustic performance from our good friend, Browncoat singer/songwriter Sean Faust. And it’s all for the benefit of Equality Now, Joss Whedon’s charity of choice, which fights for the human rights of women around the world.
Admission to both the mixer and the main event is absolutely free, but those who attend will need a ticket to see the movie, which can be obtained at the box office at the Hollywood Theater in exchange for a minimum donation of $8.00 to Equality Now. Tickets will be available starting at 5PM the day of the event.
Take Back the Sky wholeheartedly supports Can’t Stop the Serenity and Equality Now and the work they do, and we urge you to do the same. We thank them for letting us be a part of their event again this year.
